Carmaker General Motors is asking consumers to create their own ads for an upcoming new Chevrolet truck. Following a product placement turn on the NBC program "The Apprentice", GM unveiled an interactive web site and invited viewers to use various multimedia clips and create their own ad. There is no mention on whether the winning ad will be used as an actual TV spot. Fellow carmaker Toyota announced earlier this year that it would not only seek consumer-generated ads, but would buy air time on the Current TV network for them. (Womnibus Weekly #1.46)
